Kungfu Dunk (2008) – like Shaolin Soccer but basket ball

The film is inspired by the Slam Dunk very popular manga (comic) and anime (cartoon) series, and was previously titled Slam Dunk. The filming, however, conveyed a strong flavour of Hong Kong films, reminiscent of movies like Shaolin Soccer.

The film revolves around an orphaned boy who grew up in a kung fu university and becomes a talented basketball player. The youngster, Fang Shi Jie (Jay Chou) grew up at the Kung-Fu School. He practiced excellent Kung-Fu and is equipped with good skills. When he is punished by his principal to stay on the streets for one night, he demonstrates his incredible accuracy to a down-and-out hustler, Wang Li. On the pretext of helping him search for his family, Wang Li invites him to play basketball at ‘First University’ as the new star of its basketball team. Meanwhile, Wang Li capitalizes on media interest in Shi-Jie to make money via interviews and news articles.

After joining the basketball team, Shi-Jie finds that Li-Li (Lily) (Charlene Choi) whom he had admired for a long time is the sister of Ting Wei (Bo-Lin Chen), the leader of the basketball team. Shi Jie is desperate to draw her attention. Therefore, he attempts to compete with Xiao Lan (Baron Chen), who is Li-Li’s idol. The competition between Shi Jie and Xiao Lan generates an unstable atmosphere within the team. After Ting Wei counsels Shi Jie, the basketball team becomes more unified. Meanwhile, he helped Shi Jie combine his foundation of Kung-Fu skills into basketball techniques, which in turn brings his skills into full play and helps the team win many rounds of the inter-varsity tournament.

Mr. Bean is a 2002 animated telivision series based on the 1990 British TV series Mr. Bean Characters from the original live action series included Mr. Bean, Irma Gobb, Mr. Bean’s teddy bear, and the mysterious driver of the Reliant Supervan, with the addition of Mrs. Wicket, Bean’s landlady, and her evil cat Scrapper.

The series again featured little actual dialogue, with most being either little soundbites or mumbling. Rowan Atkinson provided the voice for Bean, and all of the animated Bean actions are taken from Atkinson himself. Despite the series’ actual title being simply Mr. Bean, some broadcasters referred to this series as Mr. Bean: plus a subtitle for disambiguating with the original live-action series. Disney Channel in Southeast Asia refers this series as “Mr. Bean – The Animated Series” and the original live-action series as “Mr. Bean – Live Action Series” in their schedule.

Chocolate Truffles Recipes

½ C cocoa
½ Cup unsalted butter
2 1/3 C confectioner’s sugar
1/4 cup heavy or whipping cream 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Centers:

pecan
walnuts
whole almonds or after-dinner mints

Coatings:

coconut
crushed nuts
confectioners sugar

Makes about 3 dozen truffles
Cream butter in large mixer bowl. Combine 2 1/2 cups confectioners’
sugar and the cocoa; add alternately with cream and vanilla to butter.
Blend well. Chill until firm. Shape small amount of mixture around
desired center; roll into 1 inch balls. Drop into desired coating and turn
until well covered. Chill until firm.
